Entry Restrictions

As of April 29, 2020, foreign nationals who fall into either of the following categories are prohibited from entering Japan:

From March 19, 2020, all non-residents arriving from overseas are prohibited from entering Macau SAR. This policy does not apply to residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, and Taiwan provided they have not traveled to any other country or region within 14 days of their arrival in Macau SAR. From April 6, 2020, shuttle bus service on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is suspended.

From March 18 to May 12, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Malaysia. All Malaysian nationals returning from abroad are required to undergo a health check and self-isolate for 14 days. A nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) is in effect.

Travelers will be screened, those showing symptoms will be quarantined.

From March 24, for one month, the country is in a nationwide quarantine.

All arriving travelers will be screened for symptoms. In case of any suspected exposure, the passenger — regardless of national origin or purpose of travel — will be evaluated and sent to specially designated facilities for quarantine. From March 11, all travelers are required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days after entry.Entry to Azerbaijan is temporarily suspended for all citizens of China and Iran. Visa issuance for the citizens of these countries has also been suspended.

The border with Iran, Georgia, Russia and Turkey are closed. Flights to and from China, Iran, France, Germany, Kazakhstan and Ukraine are cancelled.

Issuance of e-visas has been temporarily suspended for all foreign citizens for a period of 45 days. Those who wish to visit can apply for a visa via their local embassy.

The Bangladeshi government has suspended all visa-on-arrival services until further notice. Foreign nationals must visit a Bangladeshi embassy or consulate abroad and produce a valid medical certificate showing they have not tested positive for COVID-19 in order to obtain a visa. Foreign nationals arriving from countries impacted by COVID-19 must undergo a two-week quarantine. A nationwide lockdown is in effect until May 16, 2020.

From March 18, visa on arrival will be suspended, all travelers are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. Travelers from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon will be banned from entering, except for Bahrain citizens, citizens of GCC member states and foreigners with residence visas.

North Korea has shut down all of its air and railway routes across its borders with China, and is keeping all foreigners arriving in the country via China isolated for up to one month.

From March 18, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Israel. This policy does not apply to Israeli citizens or residents.

From March 17, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Jordan for tourism. This policy does not apply to personnel from diplomatic missions and international organizations; however, such persons are required to self-isolate for 14 days.

From March 19, Kyrgyzstan will ban entry of citizens of foreign states and stateless persons into Kyrgyzstan. The exception is drivers engaged in international freight transport, crews and flight personnel of aircraft, train and locomotive teams of international railway traffic. The ban also does not apply to accredited employees of diplomatic missions and consular offices of foreign states, as well as accredited employees of international organizations and family members of these persons in case of informing in advance about their arrival through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons, who are members of the families of Kyrgyzstanis with documentary evidence of close family ties, or have a permanent residence permit in the Kyrgyz Republic, will be able to enter.

From April 1, 2020, the Laotian government has suspended the issuing of new visas and visa-on-arrival services. All persons (including Lao nationals) arriving in Laos are required to strictly follow the rules and regulations set-forth by the Ministry of Health to combat the COVID-19 outbreak. Foreign nationals are required to self-isolate for 14 days following arrival in Laos.

From March 29, all international flights will be suspended.

The government has announced following resolutions:
Ban on entry of all non-Omanis to the sultanate’s territories via all land, sea and air ports and checkpoints, except citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council states from March 17. Imposing quarantine on all passengers arriving in the Sultanate via all land, sea and air ports and checkpoints, including Omanis. The country has suspended issuing of tourist visas beginning on March 15.

From February 27, Saudi Arabia has temporarily halted the entry of pilgrims entering the country to visit holy sites.
From March 9, Saudi Arabia temporarily banned citizens and foreigners living in Saudi Arabia from traveling to United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, South Korea, Egypt, Italy, Iraq, Oman, France, Germany, Turkey and Spain. Saudi Arabia has also stopped flights and ships from these countries.
From March 12, the country has suspended flights to all European Union countries as well as Switzerland, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Sudan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Eritrea, Kenya, Djibouti, and Somalia, has suspended land travel to and from Jordan.
Arrivals from all the above-mentioned countries and those who have been there in the last 14 days have been temporarily barred from entering the country. From March 13, all travelers entering Saudi Arabia have to self-quarantine for 14 days.

From April 4, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Timor-Leste. This policy does not apply to persons born in Timor-Leste, resident citizens, legal representatives of minors who are Timorese nationals, persons working on oil rigs in the Timor Sea, and other persons specially designated by the Prime Minister whose entry is considered in the national interest. Persons engaged in the transport of goods must remain within the international zone at all airports, seaports, or land border checkpoints. All persons granted entry to Timor-Leste will be tested for COVID-19. Those testing positive will be placed in quarantine and isolated. All other persons must undergo a 14-day quarantine. All commercial flights are suspended.

From March March 27, 2020, all international passenger flights are suspended. Turkey’s land border checkpoints with Bulgaria, Greece, Iran, and Iraq are closed. Any person granted entry to Turkey must undergo health screening for COVID-19 upon arrival and a 14-day quarantine.

The United Kingdom has not imposed any additional entry restrictions related to COVID-19; however, many UK Visa Application Centres (VACs) are closed or offering limited services. Contact the nearest UK embassy or consulate for more information. From March 29, 2020, the UK government is enforcing a policy of strict social distancing. All persons currently in the UK are advised to remain indoors and go outside only for very limited purposes.

From March 18, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Sweden. This policy does not apply to EU citizens, citizens from countries associated with the Schengen Area, citizens of the United Kingdom, persons holding Swedish residence permits, or persons traveling for essential reasons.

From March 25, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Switzerland. This policy does not apply to citizens from Liechtenstein, persons holding a Swiss residency permit, and persons traveling to Switzerland for work-related reasons or because of an emergency.

From March 14, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Denmark. This policy does not apply to residents of Denmark, Greenland, or the Faroe Islands, persons needing to transit through Denmark to return to their country of residence, or persons deemed to have a “worthy purpose.” All persons (including Danish citizens) are advised to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival.

From March 15, the Albanian government has closed its border, except for cargo transport.

Following the endorsement by EU leaders, all EU Member States (except Ireland) and all Schengen Associated Countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) are now applying this travel restriction.

Travelers will be screened, those from coronavirus affected countries have to complete an information form, and those having symptoms may be quarantined.

From March 16, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Cyprus. This policy does not apply to legal residents, European or third-country nationals working in Cyprus, persons acting in a diplomatic capacity, European or third-country nationals attending educational institutions in Cyprus, and other persons granted permission on a case-by-case basis. All persons entering Cyprus from abroad must undergo a 14-day quarantine at a designated facility.

From April 14, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Czechia. This policy does not apply to EU citizens or citizens from countries associated with the Schengen Area. All persons (including Czech nationals) allowed to enter must undergo a mandatory quarantine upon arrival.

From March 17, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Estonia. This policy does not apply to holders of an Estonian residency permit, foreign nationals whose family member lives in Estonia, persons transporting cargo, and persons providing vital services. Foreign nationals may transit through Estonia provided they do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19.

From March 17, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Greece. This policy does not apply to EU citizens or citizens from countries associated with the Schengen Area, with the exception of Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Spain. Travelers from these EU countries are prohibited from entering Greece. All persons must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Greece. Cruise ships, sailboats, and yachts are prohibited from docking in Greek ports.

From March 17, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Latvia. This policy does not apply to permanent residents, Estonian and Lithuanian nationals or permanent residents who need to cross Latvian territory, diplomats, persons requiring humanitarian assistance, and persons engaged in the transport of freight or passengers, who intend to depart Latvia upon completion of their duties.

From March 16 to May 12, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Lithuania. This policy does not apply to family members of Lithuanian citizens, crew members employed by Lithuanian companies engaged in international commercial transportation, persons entitled to reside in Lithuania, persons covered by the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations or the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, persons serving in NATO or NATO military units and their family members, healthcare professionals arriving for the provision of transplant services, and persons whose entry is specifically authorized by the Lithuanian government. A nationwide quarantine regime is in effect.

From March 17, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering the Netherlands for non-essential travel. This policy does not apply to EU citizens, citizens from countries associated with the Schengen Area, and nationals from the United Kingdom. Further exemptions apply to persons holding a “long-stay visa”, persons holding a temporary residence permit, and persons performing essential functions.

From March 16, the government will close the border to foreign nationals who lack a residence or work permit in Norway. People with Norwegian passports or residence/work permits who have arrived in Norway from another country must stay in quarantine at home for 14 days after arrival, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms.

Transit passengers: People free of illness and symptoms may fly to their final destination to be quarantined in their own home.

From March 22, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Romania. This policy does not apply to family members of Romanian citizens, EU citizens or citizens from countries associated with the Schengen Area who reside in Romania, persons holding a long-stay visa or residency permit, diplomats, personnel of international organizations, or members of the military or humanitarian aid organizations, persons in transit, persons traveling for essential reasons, and persons seeking humanitarian protection.

From March 20, 2020, foreign nationals are prohibited from entering Australia. This policy does not apply to Australian citizens, residents, and their immediate family members. Additional exemptions are possible on a case-by-case basis. From March 28, 2020, all persons arriving in Australia will be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine in a designated facility at their port of arrival.

Travelers from affected foreign countries or regions (Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea)entering American Samoa have to spend 14 days in a country or region not affected by the coronavirus and acquire a 3-day health clearance — day 11 of the 14 days — before entry.

All persons are prohibited from entering Micronesia until further notice.

From February 5 to March 31, Palau will prohibit entry of all travelers with travel history originating from or transiting through mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau within 14 days of their arrival in the country.

Exemption may be made to this prohibition for Palauan citizens and residents, provided that such persons submit to a comprehensive health screening and agree to a 14-day self-quarantine upon arrival in Palau.

Any person, including a crew member, a Palauan citizen, or a Palau resident, arriving into Palau at any point of entry is required to complete a health declaration form.

All resident workers of Palau are advised to carry their worker’s permit and immigration entry permit while traveling.

From February 1 to March 31, flights from mainland China (including Hong Kong, Macau) to Palau are suspended.

From March 19, travelers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau SAR, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Iran, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Portugal, Finland, Israel, Australia, Malaysia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Canada and the United States of America will not be allowed entry, except for citizens and residents of Vanuatu.

From March 27, 2020, all persons are prohibited from entering or transiting through the Bahamas. All air and seaports are closed. These restrictions do not apply to cargo flights, cargo vessels, commercial courier flights, emergency medical flights, or other emergency flights approved by the Civil Aviation Authority. All foreign nationals currently in the Bahamas should prepare to stay for an indefinite period of time.

From March 24 for 30 days, all travelers are prohibited from entering Cuba, except for Cuban citizens and foreigners living in Cuba for work, those allowed entry have to be isolated for 14 days; foreign tourists are allowed leaving Cuba; only cargo flights and ships are allowed to enter Cuba, and their crew are subject to medical monitoring.

From March 18, all borders have been closed, and foreign nationals will be denied entry.

From March 24, 2020, all persons are prohibited from entering Curaçao. A 24-hour curfew is in place.

From March 13, flights from Europe have been suspended for 30 days. From March 17, all travelers (except for citizens and residents of Panama) will not be allowed entry, citizens and residents have to self-quarantine at home for 14 days after entry.

From March 25, 2020, all persons (including nationals and residents) are prohibited from entering Saint Kitts and Nevis. This policy does not apply to medevac or emergency medical personnel, or crews on international air or seaborne cargo transport. From April 15 to May 9, 2020, a 24-hour full curfew is in effect.

The govrnement has closee all terrestrial, maritime and aerial borders to foreigners, Chilean citizens and residents who have visited high risk countries have to self-quarantine for 14 days after entry.

Ecuador’s government On March 14 announced the closure of its borders from March 15 to all foreign travelers, Ecuadorean citizens and foreigners with Ecuadorean residency will have until the end of March 16 to return.

From March 16, Peru will temporarily close all borders. Suspend air and sea transport.

From March 19, land borders will be strictly controlled, unnecessary entry will be denied, travelers will be screened and those having symptoms will be quarantined. Visa service will be restricted, all travelers entering the airport will be quarantined, and foreigners have to pay the cost.

From March 18 until further notice, all borders will be closed closed, all international flights will suspended, except for freight flights and ships that transport consumer goods all airports will no longer issue entry visa.

All travellers will undergo temperature check and hand disinfection at N’Djamena International Airport, all travelers from high risk countries or regions are subject to a 14-day medical observation. The government has decided to suspend flights to N’Djamena from midnight on March 19.

All flights to/from Djibouti will be suspended except cargo flights effective from March 18.

All travelers will be quarantined for 14 days at their own cost.

The government announced on March 14 that the granting of tourist visas is suspended from the most infected areas, namely the European Union, China, South Korea and the United States.

From March 18, all land, air and sea borders of the country have been closed.

From March 14, all international flights have been suspended.Cruise ships are also banned from entering ports in Madagascar.

All travelers will be quarantined for 14 days. The borders with neighboring countries are closed, 6 border crossings remain open. All travelers will undergo temperature check at entry points. From March 17, all flights to Mauritania will be suspended.

From March 19, all flights from countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus will be suspended.

From March 19, all international flights to and from Niger will be suspended for two weeks and may be extended if necessary, all land borders will be closed, cargo transportation will not be restricted.

From March 17, the Country has entered a state of public health emergency. All foreign citizens are not allowed to enter; citizens and residents of Sao Tome and Principe have to self-quarantine at home isolation. Technology and government delegations invited by the government of Sao Tome and Principe are allowed to enter, but must have a proof of negative testing results of the coronavirus at the airport of departure. Charter flights are prohibited from landing at Sao Tome and Principe airports, and cruise ships are prohibited from docking at the ports of Sao Tome and Principe. Crew and passengers of cargo ships, fishing vessels, and yachts are prohibited from docking in Ports of Sao Tome and Principe.

From March 18, all international flights will be suspended for 15 days.

From March 17, 2020, some border checkpoints are closed and travelers are subject to enhanced health screening measures. A national curfew is in effect and all persons are required to stay at home. Foreign nationals planning to visit Zimbabwe must postpone their travel plans for at least 30 days. Persons arriving from countries or regions severely impacted by COVID-19 must self-isolate for 14 days after entry.
